Frequently asked questions
Can't find what you need below? Call us on (02) 9687 4231 — we'd rather answer the question directly.
All enquiries submitted via this form or by email to [email protected] receive a response within two business hours during our operating hours (Monday–Friday 6:00 am–8:00 pm AEST, Saturday 7:00 am–2:00 pm AEST). For recurring freight contracts, initial quote turnaround is typically the same business day.
If you need a quote urgently, call our quotes line directly on (02) 9687 4233. Quotes are itemised — you will see exactly what you are paying for before committing.
FreightLine holds public liability insurance and goods in transit insurance as standard. Our Insurance Certificate of Currency is available on request and is included in our compliance documentation pack for enterprise clients conducting CoR due diligence.
Our standard goods in transit cover applies to all consignments handled under a FreightLine manifest. For high-value or specialist freight — including pharmaceutical shipments and oversized loads — we recommend clients maintain their own cargo insurance in addition to FreightLine's carrier cover. Please discuss your specific requirements with our operations team when requesting a quote.
Standard payment terms for account clients are 14 days from invoice date. Accounts are issued electronically on completion of each delivery, with electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) attached. A 30-day payment term is available for clients on annual freight contracts, subject to credit assessment.
For one-off shipments without an account, payment is required prior to dispatch via bank transfer or credit card. Contact our accounts team on (02) 9687 4234 or email [email protected] to discuss account application.
All FreightLine vehicles are equipped with active GPS telematics. Account clients receive a tracking link via email at time of dispatch, showing real-time vehicle location and estimated delivery window. Electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) — including consignee signature and delivery timestamp — is emailed automatically on completion of each delivery.
For live updates during a delivery, call our operations team directly on (02) 9687 4232. We do not send automated tracking updates via SMS — all tracking is via the link or direct contact.
Freight must be packaged to withstand the conditions of road transport — including vibration, changes in temperature, and the possibility of incidental contact during loading and unloading. Palletised freight should be stretch-wrapped, stable, and within the standard pallet footprint (1.2m x 1.0m) unless otherwise agreed in advance.
Load restraint is the responsibility of the consignor under HVNL Chain of Responsibility provisions. FreightLine provides load restraint guidance documentation on request and will not accept freight that is inadequately packaged or secured. For breakbulk or non-standard freight, please discuss packaging requirements with our operations team prior to booking.
FreightLine is licensed to transport certain classes of dangerous goods under the Australian Dangerous Goods Code. Accepted DG classes depend on the specific substance, quantities, and the route involved. A DG enquiry must be submitted in advance with the substance's Safety Data Sheet (SDS), UN number, packing group, and quantity — we cannot assess DG freight at point of pickup.
Not all classes are accepted on all corridors, and some consignments will require specialist packaging, placarding, and documentation that must be prepared by the consignor. Contact our operations team at [email protected] to discuss your specific DG requirements before booking.
Saturday deliveries are available on the Sydney–Melbourne, Sydney–Brisbane, and Melbourne–Adelaide corridors for clients with scheduled freight arrangements. Saturday delivery must be confirmed at time of booking — it is not a standard option for ad hoc bookings. Our depot operations team is available Saturday 7:00 am–2:00 pm AEST.
Sunday and public holiday deliveries are not offered as a standard service. For time-critical freight requiring out-of-hours delivery, contact our after-hours emergency line on 1800 374 891 to discuss availability and applicable rates.
Yes. FreightLine applies area surcharges for deliveries to locations outside metropolitan and major regional centres. These surcharges reflect the additional distance, road conditions, and time involved in serving remote and rural locations. All applicable surcharges are itemised in your quote — there are no hidden fees added at invoice stage.
Remote area surcharges apply to many parts of the Northern Territory, outback South Australia and Western Australia, and rural Tasmania. When requesting a quote, provide the full delivery postcode so we can apply the correct rate. If you're unsure whether a surcharge applies to your delivery location, contact our quotes team on (02) 9687 4233.
Cancellations received more than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time incur no cancellation fee. Cancellations received between 4 and 24 hours before pickup incur a fee equivalent to 25% of the quoted freight rate to cover depot preparation costs. Cancellations received less than 4 hours before pickup, or after the vehicle has been dispatched, are charged at the full quoted rate.
For recurring freight contracts, cancellation terms are set out in the individual contract agreement. If circumstances change and you need to cancel or modify a booking, contact our operations team as early as possible on (02) 9687 4232.
Yes — recurring freight contracts are our preferred arrangement for clients with predictable freight volumes. A contract gives you rate certainty, priority vehicle allocation, and a dedicated operations contact. Contracts are available on 6-month and 12-month terms with fixed rates for agreed corridors and freight types.
Contract rates are typically 8–15% below comparable spot-market rates, depending on volume and corridor. For clients with mixed freight needs — some regular, some ad hoc — we also offer hybrid arrangements. To discuss a contract, submit an enquiry using the form on this page and select "Recurring contract" as the service type, or call us on (02) 9687 4231.
